We've been talking to community groups, long-time locals and experienced guides to put together the top trump list of Putney restaurants to help you support your local area and have a fab meal at the same time. During our search, we put a real focus on the restaurants which are family (and dog) friendly, artisan, family run and welcoming.

Home SW15: Craig and "the two Freddie's"

Home is a popular spot with locals. A delightful place on the high street, the owners say "we want Home to be a ‘home from home’, a place to relax and feel welcomed." Home serves modern European cuisine for brunch, lunch, dinner and cocktails and was a 2019 Good Food Guide Award Winner. Opened by Craig and “the two Freddie’s”, Home is a really buzzy all-day restaurant with a fantastic bar selling a cracking cup of coffee in the morning and delicious Made @ Home cocktails in the evening.

Italian hideaway

A local hotspot known for its delicious pizza and friendly atmosphere. Expect great value (£13-£20 per head) and even better service from the team. Guests love that they sell big portions, the child-friendly atmosphere and the amazing takeaway pizzas too. We recommend their Gamberi and signature Melanzane alla Parmigiana.

Yum Sa on Upper Richmond road is all-round winner. Creative modern Thai food is classically inspired, re-interpreted with contemporary culinary techniques in an open kitchen. Yum Sa was conceived in 2015 with a dream to connect people in Putney to simple, great-tasting food with a Thai twist. They take pride in creating a brand with strong local vendor ties for all meat, poultry and vegetable requirements.

A breath of fresh air in the city

A pizza and pasta place with a beautiful little garden. Sit outside in the beautiful greens amongst the plants or if it's a bit chilly that day, sit in the chique inside area. A great find up in the North West of Putney that is regularly booked out so try and book ahead if you can!

A hidden gem of a restaurant

A local hidden gem, tucked away round the corner of Putney High street. Those unfamiliar with District one may look past it but trust us, they're missing out! Come for delicious food but be won over by the family run atmosphere and great service. A fun a vibrant place to have a night out with friends!

An independent restaurant Turkish Restaurant based in East Putney, offering lunch and dinner 7 days a week with a wide choice of authentic dishes. Beyzade has created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, whether it's just a quick meal or special celebration. From meze plates designed to be shared around the table, to premium meat, fish and vegan options, they have a selection for everyone. With brilliant service there is nothing not to love about Beyzade!

Kaalika is the best rated Indian restaurant in Putney and it's easy to see why. Situated perfectly on Putney Bridge Road the small family run business is the perfect place for all your Indian cuisine needs. Chef Praveen is outstanding and the biryani comes highly recommended. But if that doesn't take your fancy you'll undoubtedly find something that does!

3. Bosa

Bosa

Bosa, located on Lower Richmond Road, is the best Lebanese restaurant in Putney. Using recipes handed down for generations, it is perfect for a family evening out. Serving good portions and a policy of bring your own alcohol it also makes the night affordable and very fun if you go with friends. Feeling too lazy to go out? Bosa also does takeaways, so why not settle down in front of the TV with a Bosa? We promise you won't regret it!

Bosa has also just launched "Bosa Lounge" on Putney High Street. The new site is bigger and offers delicious Lebanese wines and Lebanese beer. They also have live music every weekend.

Al Forno offers traditional and authentic Italian and Sicilian cuisine. A great place for a family meal go and immerse yourself in a truly rustic atmosphere. Al Forno's service is great and their pizzas are amazing. It's family run with a fun and easy going atmosphere so there's nothing not to love about this Italian gem!
